Your data

Backing up your data, and bringing it back

With no cloud, the backup is the answer to «if I lose my phone, do I lose everything?». You generate it and you choose where it goes.

  1. 1

    Why it exists

No cloud means nobody is keeping a copy for you. The backup is what turns that from a risk into a decision.

  2. 2

    Getting your data out

There are two ways out, both free. A JSON file with everything — including what you archived, which is still your data — and a CSV of just your expenses, which opens in Excel or Sheets with the accents intact.

You choose how it travels: the file goes out however you want to share it. The app never sends it anywhere on its own.

  3. 3

    Encrypting it before it moves

With Premium the backup is encrypted with a password of yours. That's what lets you park it in an email or a shared drive without your numbers travelling in the clear.

  4. 4

    Bringing it back

On import, the app validates the file and restores everything in one go. If something doesn't add up halfway through, it doesn't leave your data half-written: it cancels and stays as it was.

If the file is encrypted it asks for the password, and if that's wrong or the file was tampered with, it fails rather than handing you nonsense.

Importing is Premium. Exporting isn't: getting your own data out should never cost money.

  5. 5

    So you don't forget

Premium adds a backup reminder and automatic generation when a cycle closes. Automatic generation, not automatic sending: the app tells you it's ready and you send it.
