Thrymo runs with no account, no cloud and no sync. What you record stays on your phone, and nobody else sees it.
No account, no cloud
There's no sign-up, no confirmation email, no password to remember. You open the app and start.
What you record is stored on your phone. It doesn't travel to a server of ours, because there is no server of ours to put it on.
What that means day to day
Local-first isn't a marketing checkbox here. You can feel it:
- It works with no connection — on a plane, or in the supermarket basement.
- Nobody on our side can see what you earn or what you spend it on: there's nowhere for us to look.
- There's no profile to sell and no ads to target with your spending.
- Even the reminders are scheduled by your own phone. There's no server of ours sending you notifications, because it wouldn't know what to tell you.
And if you lose your phone
Fair question, and the answer isn't «fingers crossed». The app ships with backups: export everything to a JSON file, or just your expenses to CSV, free and whenever you want. That file is yours and you keep it wherever you like.
Premium adds the two pieces that close the loop: restoring a backup, and encrypting it with a password of yours so it can travel without travelling in the clear.
And nothing is ever deleted: what you remove is archived, so it stays in your backup and in your history. That's the trade-off without the varnish: there's no copy waiting for you on a server of ours, and in exchange the copy is under your control.
